How do I add new cameras ?

Please follow the steps below to add your cameras into your app:
For Android app:
- Tap + button on the screen > Add New Camera.
- Select driver (brand, model) for your camera from the list.
- Enter the Name, URL (or IP address), Port number, Username and Password of your camera.
- Tap Test connection to test your connection.
- If the test is successful, tap Save to save your setting.
Or :
- At Matrix view, tap on screen to show menu.
- Select Cameras button to go to Cameras List page.
- Tap + button.
- Enter the Name, URL (or ip address), Port number, Username and Password of your camera.
- Tap Test connection to test your connection.
- If the test is successful, tap Save to save your setting.
For iOS app:
- At Matrix view, tap + button > Add Camera.
- Enter the Name, URL (or ip address), Port number, Username and Password of your camera.
- Select Brand/Model for your camera > Test connection > Save.

I do not know my camera's brand. How do I find out the camera's model ?

Please follow the following steps to scan for your camera models.
For Android app:
- In Settings, tap the Scan Camera button.
- Enter the URL, PORT, USERNAME and PASSWORD of your camera.
- Tap the Start Scan button.
- Our software will detect automatically and show you the most compatible models. You just select one of camera models displayed in the list.
- Tap Yes to add this camera, tap Cancel to cancel.
For iOS app:
- The Scan button is located in the Add Camera page.
- Input the Name, URL, Port, Username and Password for your camera.
- When you select Model: tap Auto Scan button at the top right corner of the page.
- The app will find the most compatible driver for your camera > tap Save.

I want to view 1, 2 or 4 cameras at the same time.

Once your camera is added, you can view your camera on screen. You can view at 1 or 2 or 4 cameras view mode.
- View 2 or 4 cameras: in Configurations page (tap Config button), you can choose between 2 cameras view mode and 4 cameras view mode.
- View 1 camera (full screen mode): At Matrix view, just double tap on the camera you want to view.

How to Control camera ?

For Android app:
- At Matrix view, double tap on the camera you want to control.
- Touch screen to show menu > Select Control button.
- The app will show you all control buttons (left, right, up, down,…), now you can control your camera.
- To hide control buttons, touch the screen again.
For iOS app:
- At Matrix view, double tap on the camera you want to control.
- Touch screen to show all control buttons and start to control your camera.

How to Record video ?

For Android app:
- At Matrix view, double tap on the camera screen that you want to record.
- Touch screen to show the menu. Select Record(REC) button.
- Tap Stop button to stop recording.
- To see all recorded videos: from the menu, tap Videos button, tap on a video, select Play/Share/Rename or Delete it.
- You can sort videos by Name, Date, Ascending and Descending.
For iOS app:
- At Matrix view, double tap on the camera screen that you want to record.
- Tap Expand button > REC button.
- Tap Stop Recording button to finish.
- Go to Configurations page > select Recorded videos to see all your recorded videos.
- Tap a video > select an option (Play Video/Send to/Rename/Delete/Cancel).

How do I edit or delete my cameras ?

Please follow these steps
For Android app:
- At Matrix view, tap on screen to show menu.
- Tap Edit button.
- Each camera will have 3 buttons Edit - Change – Remove for you to choose. > Save.
Another way to edit your camera:
- From Matrix view, tap on screen to show the menu.
- Tap Cameras button> In the Camera List, select the camera you want to edit > select Edit button to start to edit your camera.
For iOS app:
- At Matrix view, tap on screen to show menu.
- Select Edit button > select one of these options: Edit - Replace - Remove.
Another way:
- At Matrix view, tap screen to show the menu.
- Select Add button > go to Camera List > select the camera you want to edit > Edit.

How do I invert video ?

For Android app:
- Tap Edit button to go to Edit Camera page.
- Check on the box Invert Pan/Invert Tilt/Invert Image/Mirror Image - > Save.
For iOS app:
- Go to Edit Camera page > Advanced options.
- Turn Invert pan/Invert tilt On.

PTZ and preset buttons are missing - How do I do in-app update ?

Please follow the steps below:
- At the matrix view screen, tap on the screen to show buttons.
- Select Config button.
- Scroll to the bottom, and tap Check for Updates (For Android app) or Check Camera Models (For iOS app).

I can only see my cameras when I am inside. How do I configure port-forwarding ?

You are currently viewing your camera inside your home network. For you to see your camera from the outside, you must configure port-forwarding. Port-forwarding allows your cameras to be visible from outside. Please refer to your camera's manual for how to configure port-forwarding. You can also find many instructions on the internet. Please check out this document.

All cameras must be configured to be visible from outside your network before you can access the cameras via the phone.

Why do I miss the audio function? (one way/two way audio)

We are sorry that currently we only support one way audio and two way audio for several cameras. So, if you miss the audio function in our app, please email our support team at support@ipcamsoft.com, we will try our best to help you check and support audio for your camera.

How do I buy in-app ?

- Android app:
Please tap on Buy Full Version banner on the screen (or tap the Cart button) to upgrade it into the full version. In the confirm purchasing alert box, we will show you the price before you decide to buy the app.

- iOS app:
Please tap the Capture button > Select Buy now > after confirm your purchase > tap Buy button.
Or tap Config button > Buy Full Version > Buy now > Buy.

I already upgraded to the full version, but don't find any additional features ?

If you already upgraded to the full version, the free version would become the full version. The ads would be removed, beside the features you have in free version (control, zoom, light, presets, one or two way audio,... depending on which kinds of cameras you have), you will have additional features such as capturing snap shots and live updates. Additionally, paid users are entitled to lifetime tech support.

If you don't have these features, please follow the steps below:
- On Android app, please use the same account (the account which you used to purchased the app) to download the app again. You will get back the full version.
- On iOS app, please tap the Capture button > select Restore button. (please remember to use the account which you used to buy the app).
If you follow these steps but you still cannot get the full version, please contact our support team for help.

What cameras, DVRs, NVRs, devices are supported ?

Please see models support list.

My camera is not in the support list. What should I do ?

You can use the Scan button to automatically find the compatible drivers in our app.
If there is no match, please contact us with the remote access so that we can test your camera and add your camera model into the list.

Smart Dash Cam FAQs

Can you please tell me how to use Smart Dash Cam app ?

- Max capacity: The maximum capacity is used to store video files. If the total capacity exceeds this number, the app will automatically delete the old video files that have not been locked.
- Loop recording: each of file videos will have the duration like this number.
- Measurement: show the speed by MHP or km/h.
- Quality: the quality in recording video files. (High, Medium, Low).
- Record while driving: If you turn it ON, app will automatically record when the car starts to move.
- Lock video in impact: when there is an impact, the file will be locked automatically to avoid being deleted.
- Record on impact: the app will record automatically when there is an impact (based on the sensor of your phone). The app will record video automatically even you haven't pressed the Record button yet. If you already press Record button, it will record until you press Stop button.
- Turn off monitor while driving: screen will be black when the car is running.

How much is the full version? What benefits do I get if I pay for full version ?

- It costs $ 2.99.

Will the Dash Cam app (Android app/iOS app) keep recording while running in the background ?

OS does not let apps run in the background so we do not support this feature in the app.
Currently our Android app also does not have this feature.

Where do the videos get saved on my sd card (for Android app) ?

You can find your videos in DCIM/Dash Cam.

How can I delete videos I have taken ?

Go to play list, swipe the video to the left to delete it.

Can videos be longer than 2 min ?

You can go to Settings > Loop recording, increase to 5 minutes.

iCloud support available soon ?

Currently we do not support iCloud with the app, but you can use Google Drive, Dropbox (for iOS version), Box (for iOS version) with our app.

What's the correct setting for continual recording while driving for 45 minutes ?

- You should set the Max Capacity to 1GB.
- Loop recording 5 minutes for each of video.
- Record video with Quality: Medium.

I want to know if there is a way I can save automatically to my SD card rather than to my phone.

We are still working on this. We will try our best to improve the app.

Can I mail the recordings to my laptop or set it automatically to do ?

We are sorry that our app does not have this feature yet. But it allows upload file to Google drive automatically when connecting to the Internet. You can set this feature in Settings page.

The speed (km/h) does not show when I review the records.

For iOS:
- Tap on Settings on your Home screen.
- Scroll down to the Privacy > Location Services.
- Select Smart Dash Cam > check on While using the app or Always in order that the app shows the speed.
For Android:
- Allow to use GPS.
